Xanthones from the twigs of Cratoxylum cochinchinense

Abstract Three new xanthones, 1,3,7-trihydroxy-2-(2-hydroxy-3-methylbut-3-enyl)-4-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)xanthone ( 1 ), 8-hydroxy-1,2,3-trimethoxyxanthone ( 2 ), and 3- O -methylmangostenone D ( 3 ), together with (13 E ,17 E )-polypoda-8(26),13,17,21-tetraene-3β-ol, δ-tocotrienol, cochinchinone A, β-mangostin, 1,6-dihydroxy-5-methoxyxanthone, 1-hydroxy-5,6-dimethoxyxanthone, and blancoic acid, were isolated from the twigs of Cratoxylum cochinchinense . Their structures were determined using mainly 2-D NMR techniques.
