social intelligence is the ability of making fruitful interpersonal relations with others, employing t he power of mind and intellect in helping one’s relations with other s and having a better appreciation of them, coming to believe that one can encourage others for developing interperson al and friendly relations and how to befriend other s and keep them as our friends.The present article aims at stu dying the relations between the social intelligence and the enablement of male basketball players from Hamedan city, Iran. Research methodology employed here is o f co relational sort based on a practical nature. The st atistical community of the study consists of all th e male basketball players from Hamedan whose ages range from 15 to 30 years and an average of three or more years’ exper ience in playing basketball. Sixty players were randomly sel ected from among them as the subjects of the study based on Morgan and Kerjsi table. The measurement tool of th e social intelligence of the subjects was the 21-item questionnaire of Kerri Anne Crowne (2005) and that of the enablement variable was the 16-scale questio nnaire of Russell, Wendy and Steven (2001). The statistical m ethods used were also descriptive and deductive (Pe arson and multi-variable Regression). results from which gene rally showed that there was a significant relation between the social intelligence and the enablement of the athle tes. All the various aspects of social intelligence were found to be effective in empowering the male basketball players studied. Also it was found that social skills had the greatest effect in the enablement of the athletes, and after that the aspects of social awareness and informati on processing had the most tangible effects, respectively.
