A modular data acquisition system for multiware proportional chambers

Abstract We describe a simple MWPC electronics system, in which most of the electronics is mounted on the chambers. The system uses latches for temporary pulse storage and offers buffering options for data transfer to computer and tape. It has been in use for one year in an intense proton beam at the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron of Brookhaven National Laboratory, serving a total of 3100 wires.
