Inverse Problem for Stratified Scattering Media

2001
The investigation of layered media is one of the first steps for the resolution of the inverse problem in more complex situations. Furthermore, this problem is of great interest in biomedical optics as it can be closely linked to real biological situations like the skin-fat-muscle or the skin-skull-brain successions. A new analytical model based on the diffusion approximation is used to achieve ultra fast calculation of the direct problem in layered media. The possibility of completely solve the inverse problem in two-layer turbid media is investigated through theoretical results.
