Bidirectional DC-DC Converter Utilizing New Loss Reduction Techniques for HV/PHV

This paper presents a 30kW bidirectional DC-DC converter utilizing new loss reduction techniques which combines soft switching technology and tail current suppression control with minimum components and achieves 86% switching loss reduction of power semiconductor devices. Unlike the other soft switching circuit, the proposed circuit reduces the tail current which spoils soft-switching condition of turn-off and minimizes the number of auxiliary components utilizing parallel operation of Si-IGBTs.
