Overhead switch for a 330 kV voltage

1981
In recent years there has been a trend toward reducing the size of distributing devices for excessively high voltages by using overhead switches. The Teploelektroproekt Institute has developed and introduced at a number of state regional power plants (Kostromskaya, Karmanovskaya, Ryazanskaya and others) small outdoor distributing systems for 500 kV using these switches. Since 1974 the Stavropol'skaya State Regional Power Plant has successfully operated a 330 kV outdoor distributing system with overhead switches. Its installation resulted in a significant reduction in capital costs. Such outdoor distributing systems are now being developed at the South Ukrainian and Rovenskaya Nuclear Power Plants and will later be introduced at the Kalininskaya Nuclear Power Plant, the Azerbaidzhanskaya State Regional Power Plant and others.
