Computation of the excitation transfer in a two isotopic-species mixture
2016
Abstract Using the coupled nonlinear Maxwell-Bloch equations, I compute, for a mixture of two isotopic species where initially only one of the species (called 1) was selectively excited, the time-profile of the fractions of both species atoms that are in the excited states during and following the radiation emission from the system. The numerical computations are performed in the basis spanned by the eigenfunctions of the 1-D Lienard-Wiechert kernel. The temporal profile of the total fraction of species (2) in the excited state is shown to follow, for slabs having thickness comparable to the resonance frequency wavelength, a simple universal pattern.
