Antigen Report: HLA-B14: Definite Splitting into Bw64 (14.1) and Bw65 (14.2)

1984
The earliest report concerning the partition of the previously well defined HLA-B14 antigen came from Dewar et al. [4], who also introduced the first 14.1 antiserum, 7w392 (=9w261), to the Seventh International Workshop. A few sera defining the 14.2 subtype only were included in the Eighth Workshop, but their serological analysis yielded inconclusive results [5, 7]. However, considerable support for the splitting of B14 has come from absorption/elution studies [1, 8] and, in particular, from linkage disequilibrium analyses with alleles of the HLA-A and DR loci [1–4, 10], with Bf [2] and, more recently, with C4 allotypes [11].
