Operational conditions analyses of distributed generation (DG) connected on power distribution grid based on ieee Std. 1547

2013
This paper discusses simulations and analyzes of operational scenarios, based on the application of the Technical Standard IEEE Std 1547, which provides for situations likely impacts inserting DG in distribution grids, especially in protection systems. Scenarios were simulated with and without protection at the point of common coupling (PAC). The results show that the protective relays in the PAC must act for any disorder situations, even when you cannot apply for economic Direct Transfer Trip (DTT). In the scenario with protection using DTT with General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) communication channel, latency is not only the preponderant factor to taking into account on this technology choosing, but also its availability and reliability. Furthermore, these results show that by applying the determinations of IEEE 1547, it is possible ensuring safe operations in the face of unexpected scenarios that may occur in the operation of DG connected with the distribution network.
