The use of a specific gravity table or an aspirator in sugar-beet seed processing. II: To increase vigour and synchrony of germination

1990
This study determined if the gravity tables and aspirators used to increase the germination percentage of sugar-beet seed, also offered an opportunity to select for improved vigour and synchrony of germination. Before any sorting of the seed population, true-seed dry weight (excluding empty fruits) ranged from 0.3 to 5.3 mg and the thermal time for germination (root protrusion) varied between 21 and 70 day degrees above 3°C
