TDR response properties andtheir useintheestimation ofsoil permittivity

TimeDomainRefiectometry (TDR)isanimportant method forsoil science applications. Inthis paper; theproperties oftheTDR responses ofDebye's dielectrics areaddressed andexploited tofa- cilitate theestimation ofsoil permittivity. Thestudy isbased onthe decomposition oftheresponse into asequence ofechoes, andonthe analysis oftheir relationship withtheprobe andthedielectric para- meters. Practical rules fortheselection ofthemeasurement setup parameters andfortheprocessing ofthemeasured waveforms are given.
