STUDIES ON COLD TOLERANCE IN POMELO VARIETIES

Studies were made on cold tolerance differences of main pomelo varieties in the northern part of Hunan province by testing the characteristics of leaf cell membrane permeability,the contents of soluble protein,soluble sugar and free proline,tissue bound water and free water.The results indicated that the local sour pomelo was the stronger,followed by Jinxiang pomelo.Shatian pomelo showed the lowest cold tolerance and seriously damaged by lower temperature occurred periodically 10 years,which should be avoided the year within its early stage of growth.
