An air purifier, in particular an electrostatic air purifier, has a housing with an inlet nozzle (3) and an outlet nozzle (4) for an air flow (L) to be purified that is supplied to an air purifying unit (10) arranged inside the housing. The housing (2) of the air purifier (1; 1') is column-shaped and has a substantially air-tight outer sheath (2a). The inlet nozzle (3) of the air flow (L) to be purified is arranged at a first front face (2') of the column-shaped housing (2) and the outlet nozzle (4) is arranged at the other fron face (2") of the column-shaped housing (2). The air purifying unit (10) arranged in the column-shaped housing (2) has a tubular shaped. One inlet (11) of the air purifying unit (10) is arranged in one of its front faces (10'), aligned with the inlet nozzle (3) of the column-shaped housing (2), and one outlet (12) of the air purifying unit (10) is arranged at its other front face (10"), aligned with the outlet nozzle (4) of the column-shaped housing (2) or the air purifier (1; 1').
