STATUSOF3%CELLSUPERCONDUCTINGRF GUN PROJECTIN ROSSENDORF

Inthepaper, wereport onthestatus andprogress of thesuperconducting RFgunproject inRossendorf. The gunisdesigned forcw operation modewith1mA current and9.5MeV electron energy, anditwillbe installed attheELBEsuperconducting electron linear accelerator. Thegunwill havea312cell niobium cavity operating at1.3GHz.Thecavity consists ofthree cells withTESLAgeometry andaspecially designed half- cell inwhichthephotocathode willbeplaced. The production oftwoNbcavities, withRRR 300and40 respectively, hasbefinished atthebeginning of2005. After delivery, theRFtests will beperformed andthe preparation ofthecavities will bestarted. Atthesame time, thedesign ofthecryostat andthefabrication of itscomponents arealready finished. Further activities arethedesign ofthediagnostic beamline, thetesting ofthenewphotocathode preparation system, andthe upgrade ofthe262nmdriver laser system.
