Histomorphological Studies of Left Ovary in Kadaknath and White Leghorn Pre-hatch Chicks

2017
The present experiment was conducted on left ovary of 24 pre hatch female chicks of Kadaknath and White Leghorn breed each. These chicks were divided into 4 groups: group I (12th day of incubation), group II (15th day of incubation), group III (18th day of incubation and group IV (21st day of incubation). In group I, the left ovary revealed undifferentiated cortex and medulla in both the breeds. The parenchyma of the left ovary was formed of two types of cells the larger primordial germ cells with clear cytoplasm and peritoneal cells. In group II, the left ovary showed well differentiated cortex and medulla, which was appreciable in both the breeds. Cortex was densely packed with cells with parallel arrangement of cells. In group III, cortex showed the distinct zone formed by the migration of the cortical epithelial cells. Fibromelanosis appeared in the medulla of the left ovary in Kadaknath breed which became prominent in group IV. The formation of whorls was distinct in the cortex of the left ovary by cortical epithelial cells. Ratio of cortex and medulla showed maximum value (0.63: 1) in group III of Kadaknath breed. However, in WLH the ratio was maximum (0.75:1) in group IV.
