Evaluation of Work-Based Learning Programme 2011-14: apprenticeships

2016
Work-Based Learning combines provider-based training with training in the workplace, and includes the Apprenticeships programme. The latest publication provides evidence on the effectiveness of the Apprenticeships programme, 2011-2014. Findings from the evaluation include: (1) the total number of unique learners between 2011 and 2014 was 99,773 and Apprenticeship success rates were high; (2) the programme exceeded all of its [European Social Funding] ESF targets, with the exception of Level 2 qualifications (only narrowly missed) and older people; (3) the demand for apprenticeships was consistently high and the programme was believed to be gaining credibility.
