Kinetics and thermodynamics of Uranium adsorption using Impregnated magnetic graphene oxide

2019
Di(2-Ethyl Hexyl)Phosphoric Acid (D2EHPA) impregnated magnetic graphene oxide (DMGO) composites has been synthesized for uranium ions adsorption from aqueous solutions. The effects of controlling factor have been studied using the batch technique. The obtained results show that the maximum uranium adsorption capacity by DMGO composite is 154.4 mg/g at pH 5, which is higher than traditional adsorbents. Various isotherm models were studied and an adsorption capacity of 154.4 mg g-1 could be realized by fitting the experimental data with the Langmuir model. Second order kinetics and endothermic nature of the adsorption process validated the experimental data. Thermodynamic analysis was also performed to calculate the changes in free energy (ΔG°), enthalpy (ΔH°), and entropy (ΔS°).
