AMENAZAS DE PERROS DOMÉSTICOS EN LA CONSERVACIÓN DEL CONDOR, EL ZORRO Y EL PUMA EN LAS TIERRAS ALTAS DE BOLIVIA

Resumen Los perros domesticos ( Canis familiaris ) tienen una distribucion cosmopolita y han acompanado al hombre por mas de 15.000 anos, y si bien dependen de los humanos, la falta de control o cuidado a estos animales en areas periurbanas y rurales los han transformado en animales asilvestrados. Son numerosos los reportes negativos de estos  animales hacia la vida silvestre nativa, por ejemplo, la transmision de enfermedades o la depredacion sobre especies nativas pequenas. En este trabajo se presentan algunas observaciones sobre las interacciones de perros domesticos con el condor y el zorro andino y adicionalmente se reportan conflictos ocasionados por los perros domesticos entre depredadores nativos (zorro y puma) y la gente local. Threats of domestic dogs over the conservation of the Andean condor, fox and puma in the Bolivian high Andes Abstract Even though domestic dogs depend on humans, in suburban and rural areas the lack of control or care on these animals caused that they have become feral. There are several negative reports of these feral animals to native wildlife, e.g., the transmission of many diseases and predation on small native species. In this note we present our  observations on the interaction of domestic dogs with the condor and the Andean fox, we also report the conflicts caused by domestic dogs to native predators (Andean fox and puma) and to local people.
