Creativity Without Time

2021
In Chap. 9 I discuss how creativity no longer has time, first, because of the evolution of our civilization and of creativity itself: creativity no longer possesses the capacity to weave a narrative plot between past, present, and future and is therefore no longer rooted in the origin, the seed of the originary; second, because the fusion sought by the categories of the origin—creation myths, axial civilizations, and play—has been replaced by the fragmentation, differentiation, and inequality characteristic of the categories of the originary—capitalism, creative industries, creative cities, work, and representative democracy; and, third, because creativity no longer seeks existential escape from time. In short, creativity no longer fills time with meaning, nor does it build an indefinite and hopeful future, so that society has entered a stage of decadence and aging.
