Verification of Prediction methods for Methane Heat Transfer Characteristics

2012
Heat transfer of coolant methane in regenerative cooling chamber is one of the important characteristics. LOX/methane firing tests were conducted with a methane cooled combustor which had large number of measurement point in order to verify our prediction methods for coolant pressure loss and temperature gain in cooling channels. Two prediction methods were verified; a semi-empirical method and a numerical simulation method. A semiempirical method predicted coolant pressure and temperature properly, but wall temperatures around nozzle throat were predicted improperly. A numerical simulation method improved wall temperature prediction accuracy.
