A method for diagnosing states of primary equipment by means of communication states of secondary equipment in an electric system includes the steps that (S1) configuration data of a system network architecture are read from a monitoring system configuration file of the electric system; (S2) the communication state of a measuring and control device and a monitoring system is read from the system; (S3) whether the communication state of the measuring and control device is normal is detected; (S4) if the communication state is abnormal, the state of the primary equipment measured by the measuring and control device is marked as an unknown state according to the system network architecture; (S5) the second step to the fourth step is executed circularly until all measuring and control devices are examined; (S6) the communication state of a protection device and the monitoring system is read from the system; (S7) if the communication state is abnormal, the state of the primary equipment protected by the protection device is marked as a dangerous operation state according to the system network architecture; (S8) the sixth step and the seventh step are executed circularly until all protection devices are examined. According to the method, the possibility that key equipment is badly damaged when the primary equipment operates without protection can be lowered.
