Compact printed ultra-wide band antenna with notched band employing GSRR

A novel frequency notched ultra-wideband microstrip antenna with GSRR structure is proposed. The antenna consists of a conventional fork-shaped radiation patch and split ring resonator in slot of modified ground plane (GSRR). By introducing this split ring resonator, the antenna has a good band-notched performance in the WLAN band 5–6 GHz. The proposed antenna is successfully simulated, designed, and measured showing broadband matched impedance of 3.3–10.8 GHz for a 10-dB return loss, except in notched band.
