A QUEDA DO JARDIM: IMPRESSÕES DA RÚSSIA NO SÉCULO XIX

2011
The essay explores tensions between social processes and formal articulations in the play The Cherry Orchard, by the Russian writer Anton Tchekhov. Starting from an analysis of the characters and of the different meanings in which they conceive the orchard, one tries to apprehend the dialectic relationship that the text establishes by putting on stage the crisis of drama of the end of the nineteenth century and the drama of crisis in Russia in the same period.
