Representaciones, imaginarios y narrativas en la reconfiguración contemporánea de la ribera de Rosario y el delta del Paraná

2021
In the 1980s, begins the process of reconversion of the central coast of the city of Rosario from an original area of railway and port to a public and recreation space. Thus, the imaginary of a city that “grew back to the river” is modified to realize the aspiration to give the “face to the Parana”. Also, at the beginning of the 21st century, the island space is redefined from new practices and appropriations that produce diverse impacts on its particular ecosystem. In this context in which the urban and the fluvial form relationships not always planned, new imaginaries emerge linked to environmental protection and knowledge of the delta’s biodiversity. This article, through a qualitative methodology framed in cultural studies, aims to inquire about the representations and imaginaries linked to the physical transformations of the river edge of the city and its islands since the 1990s.
