Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos no município de Mirante do Paranapanema/SP

Public policies for the development of rural areas have an important role in the consolidation and permanence of family farmers in the field. The Food Acquisition Program (PAA), aiming to increase the generation of income and price supports to family farmers, strengthen the association and propitiate access to better quality food for people in food insecurity is an important policy in the scope of agriculture family. Within this perspective, we analyze the importance of PAA in the municipality of Mirante do Paranapanema / SP - municipality that has dozens of agrarian reform settlements - considering the evolution of the program in the period from 2011 to 2014. We found that in the period, the program presented positive variation in the number of items sold, the greater participation of organizations of family farmers, although with difficulties, as well as social assistance entities in the care of families in food insecurity.
