The electrochemical behavior of the Fe(II)-Fe(III) system in the presence of EDTA at pH 4.3

1990
Abstract The objective of this work is to determine the type of mechanism that the Fe(III)-EDTA reduction follows on a flat Pt surface, at a pH which is representative of the most common pH range used for this system (3.5 rde , rrde , and CP. The results show that the reduction of FeEDTA − follows an EC type mechanism forming a non-electroactive species first, which then reacts with the medium producing the electroactive species FeEDTA 2− .
