PREDICTION OF MOISTURE CHANGES IN STORED CORN
1991
ABSTRACT A finite-difference prediction model for moisture was developed based on Pick's law of diffusion. The model was validated with data from a 5.49-m diameter, corrugated steel bin filled with 58.46 metric tons of Dekalb 636/656 com. Results indicated a satisfactory agreement between predicted and observed moisture data during periods of unventilated storage. The maximum observed moisture values were within 1.5 standard deviations of the mean predicted moisture values.
