Strength characteristics and prediction of epoxy resin pavement mixture

2021
Abstract Pavement materials with epoxy resins as binders have been used to overcome the current problems faced by the application of traditional pavement materials. The strength and deformation characteristics of the mixtures were analyzed by uniaxial penetration, and compressive and small beam bending tests. The results show that high-temperature curing can accelerate the strength development in the initial stage of the epoxy resin pavement mixture. In addition, both the curing time and the epoxy resin binder-aggregate ratio affect the strength performance of epoxy resin pavement mixtures. Specifically, the standard curing time for the performance test specimens of epoxy resin pavement mixtures under 25℃ as the maintenance condition is 30 days. Increasing the amount of the binding material is beneficial to improve the deformation resistance of the mixture. Prediction models of strength and deformation characteristics of the mixture are proposed to predetermine the curing time, open traffic time, and optimum binder-aggregate ratio.
