SMART IOT TECHNOLOGIES FOR COMBATING COVID-19 PANDEMIC: DISINFECTANT FOGGING SYSTEM BASED ON DRONE TECHNOLOGY

2021
The current pandemic of new COVID-19 represents a big risk and imposed a global emergency on many people in the world. Many organizations and institutes started to look for the role that the technology could play during continuous spreading of COVID 19 which imposed new conditions. To reinforce the safety issues and information gathering from dangerous and difficult to reach zones, the drones currently can participate in a high percentage of the puzzle and bolstering in various methods to reduce the dependency on the operators and lower the subjection to COVID-19 and some of these means is disinfection of big cities. The disinfection of public areas is considered as big challenge but crucial operation in fighting to avoid the COVID-19 outbreak. During sanitization operation, there is a possible risk due to maintaining near or close contact for people to bring infection. Thus, the minimization of such contact between person and virus conjunctly reduces the required time to perform disinfection job. The current work aims to design and develop a fogging disinfection module based on IoT drone technology to fight the COVID-19. Additionally, optical camera was supplied for the system to track the fogging task to enable alerting and notification the near persons via fixed speaker with respect to the updated data of the COVID-19. To improve the tracking process of the suspected zone, the virtual reality (VR) was also implemented to control the camera of drone. Such early experiments may establish a foundation for other researchers to look for a response to the current emergency. For far future, they can make experience for both public and private health sectors to insert drone innovation into their systems to provide good response of coming pandemics.
