Principer för arkitekturell transformering och förebyggande av komplexitet En jämförande teoretisk studie av Herbert A. Simon och Bert-Inge Hogsveds managementstilar

2016
Organisations in constant change, interactions between people in organisations with their own motives and interests, the development of technology and increased growth are factors that lead to increased complexity. Today it is not enough to manage a company. Long-term survival requires a flexible Enterprise Architecture that is able to both manage the organisation effectively while adapting to new circumstances, and promote rapid response and innovation. This thesis presents a comparison between Herbert Alexander Simon, an American political scientist and economist, who has studied organisations and organisational behaviour and Bert-Inge Hogsved, founder and owner of Hogia Group, which developed a business philosophy by studying and developing his own organisation. Identifying and analysing the key principles of both authors and comparing Hogsveds experiences in light of Simon's organization and complexity theories this thesis illustrates guidance for successful Enterprise Architectural Management (EAM). Simon has an important message, namely that a conscious strategy that is reflected in the enterprise architecture enables organisations to reach their goals. An architecture there rapid adapting to new conditions exists, is rather built on a hierarchy of systems in which the subsystems are autonomous and independent, creating in that way the ability to communicate effectively and act quickly. Hogsved, complements Simon's contribution with the insight that in order to achieve higher performance and growth momentum, driving force and capacity for initiative of every individual in an organisation is a must. Enterprise Architecture is about principles for the design, implementation and continuous development of the business to meet the expectations of internal and external stakeholders on a harmonious convergence of the organisation. Successful organisations manage to create common understanding of the organisations strategic goals.
