The method involves respectively transmitting transaction files in a nominal operating mode by pay and display machines (6) of a centralized parking payment system (2) only when transmission conditions, apart from simple creation of payment data, are verified. Ratio between number of transmitted transaction files and number of payment transactions is strictly less than 1, in the nominal operating mode. Exchanges of the transaction files between the machine and a payment centralization server (4) of the payment system are partially aperiodic. An independent claim is also included for a centralized parking payment system comprising a payment centralization server.
