Heat capacity and electrical resistivity of (Ce, La)In3 and Ce(In, Sn)3

Abstract Low temperature heat capacities and electrical resistivities of (Ce, La)In 3 and Ce(In, Sn) 3 are reported. It is concluded that Ce with 12 In neighbours displays a Kondo effect modified by CEF effects, which might be suppressed by magnetic interactions. One or two Sn neighbours suffice to make a cerium atom magnetically inactive.
