MANET Routing in Dual RF Scenario
2014
Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) allows devices to communicate each other without necessity of having group owner. It closely resembles to mesh network where every node is capable of receiving and forwarding data. Due to movable and ad hoc nature of this network, a constant need of routing information maintenance is created inside the whole network. Therefore we face high power consumption issues in mobile devices participating in MANET. Even if there is no real data transfer, it's required to constantly update routing information causing continuous power consumption. To optimize power, we can hand over this routing information maintenance part to a low power consuming RF and can switch to a high data rate RF when real data needs to be exchanged. This paper presents performance analysis of routing in dual RF solutions, which is in turn one of the main measure of the network's overall performance.
