Health and the Nepal Earthquake: Ways Forward
2018
Health and social sectors were significantly pressured following the Gorkha earthquake in 2015. Acute and long-standing health impacts are common occurrences after an earthquake and require robust preparedness and timely management. This chapter explores the health outcomes and establishes their link with different levels/layers of risk factors from a spatial—temporal perspective. In light of the changing political environment of Nepal and its health commitments, the chapter also tries to look at the future perspectives of the healthcare system during the recovery and reconstruction phase in Nepal.
