Hollow needle for an ophthalmic instrument

2015
A hollow needle for an ophthalmic instrument for in-vivo destruction of organic lenses by means of ultrasound, formed with a proximal end (1) the connection area (2) for coupling to the instrument and a distal end (3) formed on the needle head (4) with a active surface (5) for emitting ultrasonic waves, wherein a suction channel (6) for aspiration of lens debris extends axially through the hollow needle therethrough, is limited its opening by the operative surface (5), characterized in that the suction channel (in the needle head 4 ) at least regionally (in the direction of the proximal end 1) is tapered, and in that over this range (1) are formed away axially extending cuts (9) in the wall (10) of the suction channel.
