History and Cost of the Pink Bollworm (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) in the Imperial Valley

The pink bollworm is one of the most damaging pests on cotton in much of the western United States today. This paper traces its history leading to the infestation of California's Imperial Valley and presents estimates of the cost of the pest to growers in that region for the years 1966 to 1980.
