The molecular structure of tetramethylhydrazine: A gas phase electron diffraction study
1983
Abstract The molecular structure of tetramethylhydrazine, (CH 3 ) 2 NN(CH 3 ) 2 , has been investigated by electron diffraction in the gas phase. Diffraction intensities can be explained by a mixture of gauche and trans conformations in a 70:30% ratio. The r a structure is characterized by r (CH) = 1.096 A, r (CN) = 1.463 A, r (NN) = 1.410 A, ∠NCH = 108.6°, ∠CNC = 110.8° and ∠NNC = 113.5°. For the gauche conformation, the dihedral angle between two vicinal methyl groups is 78.5°.
