Intermolecular Contact-Tuned Magnetic Nature in One-Dimensional 3d−5d Bimetallic Systems: From a Metamagnet to a Single-Chain Magnet

Assembling [W(CN) 6 (bpy)] - and magnetic anisotropic Mn Schiff bases produced two Mn III (3d)-W v (5d) bimetallic chains. Modulation of the types and degrees of interchain π-π interactions in the one-dimensional coordination polymers leads to the variation of the magnetic behavior from a metamagnetic character to a single-chain magnet property.
