Effects ofElectrode Material onInjection andSpaceChargeFormation inPolyimide

Spacecharge formation inpolyimide (PI) films heavily depends uponthewater content. Inorder toclarify theeffect ofcarrier injection onspace charge properties inPIfilms, spacecharge distributions were observed inthePI filmswithdifferent electrode conditions, suchasaluminium (Al)orgold(Au) deposited onthebothsurfaces ofthePIfilms. Ineach sample, positive andnegative homospace charges were observed neartherespective electrodes andtheir distribution profiles weresimilar toeachother. No remarkable effects ofelectrode materials wereobserved. Thespace charge behavior inPIfilms maybeexplained byassuming surface states andcarrier traps orsurface region wherecarrier generation takes place.
