Estimating the electric field above the top of grounded structures upon UCL initiation in CG lightning from close E-field measured over the ground

This work consists in a prospective analysis of the electric field yielded by a downward negative leader approaching a grounded structure. A simulation based on the bidirectional leader model combined with the Charge Simulation Method is implemented to calculate the electrical quantities involved in the process. After performing the simulation, it is possible to estimate the ratio between the E-field above the tip of the structure and at ground level, 50 m away from structure.
