Charging of valve-regulated lead/acid batteries under deep cycling applications

Abstract Charging methods exert a great influence on the cycle life of batteries used for deep discharges such as electric-vehicle applications. The time for a complete conversion of active materials should be as short as possible, and corrosion effects and gaseous emission must be limited. Changes in the electrical characteristics during ageing cause complications that a good charging system must take into account.
