Influence of basicity and Fe2O3 on crystallisation characteristics of CaO–MgO–SiO2–Al2O3–Cr2O3–Fe2O3 system

2015
AbstractCaO–MgO–SiO2–Al2O3–Cr2O3–Fe2O3 slag systems with different basicities and different Fe2O3 contents were prepared using reagent powders and experimented cooling from melt to 1400°C for crystallisation. X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electronic Microscopy and Energy Dispersive Spectrometer were used for slag sample characterisation. It was established that the basicity of the slag changed the mineralogical phases, while variation of Fe2O3 content in slag with the same basicity did not affect the main crystalline phases. The results showed that most of the Cr2O3 was incorporated into Mg(Al,Fe,Cr)2O4 spinel solid solution and content of Cr2O3 in spinel phase decreased with increasing of the basicity (CaO/SiO2) and the Fe2O3 content.
