THREE NEW SPECIES OF GAMASID MITES FROM NINGXIA, CHINA (ACARI, GAMASINA)

2010
The present paper deals with three new species of gamasid mites from Liupan Mountain Natural Reserve, Ningxia, China. All type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology Academy of Military Medical Science, Beijing, China.Amblygamasus liupanshanensis Bai, Yan et Wu, sp.nov.(Figs.1-7) The new species is similar to Amblygamasus shennongjiaensis Ma et Liu, 1998, but differs from the latter in 1) the_ endogynium with 2-5 of sharp processes laterally and medial prong fire tongues-like and having 4 teeth inside; 2) the front stemal shield two-hump shaped; 3) there was a pair of thick hair in tarsus Ⅱ subterminal; 4) the ventral present 7-9 pairs of setae. Holotype ♀ and paratype 1♀, by BAI Xue-Li, collected off nest of Mus sp., 1 June 2006, from Liupan Mountain Natural Reserve (106°13′N,35°30′E; alt. 2140m) of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Etymology. The speccific name is derived from the typy locality Liupanshan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.Euryparasitus tengkuofani Bai, Yan et Wei, sp. nov.(Figs.8-16) The new species differs from all the known species in the genus in the willow leaf-like setae on most part of the anterior and posterior dorsal shield, and among the setae F_1, F_2, M_2, D_1, D_3, D_7 and M_11 plume-like and M_11 2.4 times as length as S_8; the presternal shields with 3 pairs of tandem, of which the middle pair largest; the posterior end of peritrematal plate trancated. Holotype ♀ and paratype deutonymph, by BAI Xue-Li, collected off Apodemus peninsulae Thomas, 1906, 4 June 2006, from Liupan Mountain Natural Reserve (106°13′N, 35°30′E; alt. 2 140 m) of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Etymology. This new species is named in honour of late Dr. TENG Kuo-Fan of the Professor of the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica, China.Veigaia chenbaifangi Bai, Yan et Qi, sp. nov.(Figs.17-21) The new species is closely related to Veigaia cuneata Ma, 1996, but differs from the latter in: 1) the posterior margin of anterior dorsal shield rounded and levels up at anterior margin of posterior dorsal shield; 2) the distance between ventral plate and anal plate less than the length of the anus, the Vl_4 long and beyond the base of Ad; 3) 15-17 pores on the halfmoon area. Holotype ♀ and paratypes 2♀♀, by BAI Xue-Li et al., collected off nest of Mus sp., 1 June 2006, from Liupan Mountain Natural Reserve (106°13′N, 35°30′E, alt. 2140 m) of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Etymology. This new species is named in honor of Dr. CHEN Bai-Fang of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Center for Disease Control and Prevention, China.
