Efficacy of Super-Lift Converter Over Fundamental Converters in Induction Motor Drive Using Solar Energy

2022
Among all other renewable energy conversion systems, solar energy conversion systems (SECS) are a trend. Energy conversion capability is one of the major shortcomings in SECS, which serves as an obstacle to its choice. The performance review of SECS with the integration of the advanced DC/DC converter super-lift Luo converter (SLLC) is discussed in this research paper. Traditionally, the fundamental converters are usually used for performance improvement in SECS. In this manuscript, the disadvantages of fundamental converters integrated SECS are specifically discussed by considering the consistency and efficiency of energy conversion. Unlike the fundamental converters, the proposed SLLC converts the geometric progression of the DC output voltage from the solar panel. Compared to fundamental converter integrated SECS, the ripple value in the output voltage is reduced greatly in SLLC integrated SECS. In this analysis, the SECS was designed to supply a classical induction motor (IM) drive. In addition, the DC/DC converter gate pulse in the formed IM drive is fixed. Using MATLAB/Simulink software, the built SECS fed IM drive is simulated. The results of the simulation, such as DC output voltage, ripple information, IM speed response and electromagnetic torque, validate the SLLC option over typical SECS converters.
