JAPAN DIGITAL ROAD MAP (JDRM) DB AS BASE MAP FOR VARIOUS APPLICATIONS

It is very inappropriate to have various location referencings in various communication systems such as VICS. A unified location referencing is essential for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications which will be operated in various areas and organizations. In Japan, Digital Road Map supplied by Japan Digital Road Map Association is used or will be used as a unified base map for location referencing, in the following applications: 1) VICS; 2) Traffic Regulation Digital DB; 3) Road Traffic Census analysis; 4) Special Vehicle Operation Permit System; and 5) Traffic Accident Analysis.
