Analysis of User Satisfaction on the City Squares in Seoul - Focused on Grand Public Place -

Citysquaresarepublicopenspaceswhicharecloselyrelatedtothepeoplesdailylives.Mostsquaresarelocatedin thecenterofthecity,andtheyareusuallyusedforcommunitygatheringsandtheyaresuitableforopenmarkets,music concerts,politicalrallies,andotherevents.Citysquaresalsoplayanimportantroleasagrandpublicplaceoperatingin multifunctionsthatrequireinvolvementofmorepeople. Thepurposeofthisstudyistoexaminesatisfactiononthespatialcomponents,characteristics,andtheusersatisfaction inCitySquares.Thestudyalsoanalyzedtherelationshipbetweenthesatisfactionaboutspatialcomponents,characteristics anditalsoshowsthattheusersatisfactionisfollowed.Thisstudysitesaremadein3grandpublicplacesinthecenter ofSeoulincludingtheSeoulplaza,CheonggyePlaza,andGwanghwamunSquare.Datawereanalyzedusingseveralstatistical methodssuchasdescriptivestatistics,factoranalysis,ANOVA,correlationandregression. Resultsofthestudyareasfollows:First,factoranalysiscarriedouttoextractthevariousfactorsofsatisfactionon thesites;spatialcomponents,usability,amenity/security,andspatialcharacteristics.Usersatisfactionconcerningusability factorwashigherthanthesatisfactionoftheotherfactors.Thisresultrepresentedthatthestudysitesplayanimportant roletothepublicopenspacesinthecity.Second,usersshowedhighusersatisfactiontostudysites,andusersatisfaction ratetowardtheGwanghwamunSquareisthehighestbecauseofitsfacilityplanning. Finally,usersatisfactionwasstronglycorrelatedontheusabilityfactorofspatialplanning.Also,thesignificantcorrelations betweentheusersatisfactionandtheotherfactorssuchasspatialcomponents,security,andspatialcharacteristicsofspatial planningarepresented.
