Sensor System for Dynamic Detection of the Concentration Gradient of Volatile Compounds in the Air

2014
Abstract The paper presents an evaluation of the performance of the developed sensor system for dynamic detection of the concentration gradient of volatile compounds in the air. Real-time measurements of the spatial gradient are difficult, because of inherently unstable propagation of chemical plume in the air [1]. A special test chamber with dynamically stable gas concentration distribution was used to obtain repeatability conditions and reliable results. The spatial distribution of tested gas in the test chamber was estimated by CFD simulations. The results proved that the real-time detection of small differences in gas concentration at small distances is possible.
