It is recognized by all historians worldwide that the First Industrial Revolution that erupted first in England had a great impact to the growth of global economy. Although there are different views of the duration of the First Industrial Revolution, generally it is considered to have begun in the late eighteenth century and ended by the beginning of twentieth century. Its impact on the global economy can be shown from the following two tables by historical economist Maddison (Monitoring the world economy 1820–1992. OECD, Paris, 1995).
