Synthesis of two isostructural Zn-CPs and their fluorescence sensing for Cr (VI) ion and nitrofurantoin in aqueous medium

2020
Abstract Two isostructural Zn (II) luminescent coordination polymers (CPs), namely, [Zn(tptc)0.5(bpy)]n (1) and [Zn(tptc)0.5(pyp)]n (2) {H4tptc = p-terphenyl-2,2″,5″,5‴-tetracarboxylic acid, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, pyp = 3-(pyrid-2-yl) pyrazole} were synthesized under solvothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, Infrared spectra, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis. The structural analysis of Zn-CPs shows that they are isostructural and present 2D sheet structures with 4-connected {44.62}-sql topology, which are further expanded into 3D supermolecular structures by H-bonding interaction. Furthermore, the luminescent experiments revealed that CPs 1 and 2 show highly sensitive and selective sensing for CrO42−/Cr2O72− anions and nitrofurantoin in aqueous medium.
