Compositions and methods for antibodies directed against complement protein C5

A monoclonal antibody directed against the isolated human C5 protein, or a fragment thereof which binds to the antigen, comprising (i) a heavy chain CDR1 having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1; heavy chain CDR2 having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2; and heavy chain CDR3 having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3; and (ii) a light chain CDR1 having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4; light chain CDR2 having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5; and light chain CDR3 having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 6, wherein said antibody or fragment thereof which binds to the antigen binds to human protein with a KD C5 10-10 M or less according to measured by surface plasmon resonance.
